Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child

A shoebox filled with a toy car, crayons, a toothbrush, new socks, stickers, a comb, and most importantly, a message of hope: this is Operation Christmas Child.

Grand Parkway Baptist Church is again partnering with Samaritan’s Purse, an organization that delivers thousands of shoeboxes to kids in impoverished villages and communities around the world.

The shoebox starts in your hands, is filled with little gifts, dropped off at our church, moved to a processing facility, and then sent on to kids in need. As shoebox gifts are distributed, local pastors or church leaders present the Gospel in a fun way designed for kids while family and friends listen in. They also receive The Greatest Gift, a colorful presentation of the Gospel in their own language, and have the opportunity to enroll in The Greatest Journey, a Bible study which guides them through what it means to faithfully follow Jesus Christ—and it all starts with an empty shoebox.

This year, Grand Parkway will be a local drop-off location during National Collection Week, November 14–21. Invite your friends and neighbors to join in the fun of Operation Christmas Child and bring their boxes here! If you are interested in finding out where your shoebox goes, you can make a $7 donation toward shipping and receive a special label (see link in list below). Attach the label to your shoebox, and Samaritan’s Purse will track it and notify you of the country your box will be delivered with the message of Christ’s love.

The Kids Ministry of Grand Parkway Baptist Church will also be hosting a Church-wide packing party & craft night on Wednesday, November 16 from 6:30–8pm. We will have supplies to pack extra shoeboxes and an opportunity to pray over the boxes. There will also be a variety of crafts that make great Christmas gifts for teachers, neighbors, grandparents, etc. Crafts are $5 each to make and the proceeds will be used to help pay for shipping the shoeboxes. You may choose to make mason jar crafts, canvas art, ornaments, hand sanitizer gifts, and more. To join us for this event, please register HERE by November 13.

The amazing journey of a simple shoebox gift begins with you and results in evangelism, discipleship, and multiplication. We hope you will join us in Operation Christmas Child this year and make an eternal impact that will affect many generations.
