The Sufficiency of Not Much

a) The most experienced miracle of Jesus

b) This is the only miracle mentioned in all four gospels besides the resurrection

c) Three kinds of miracles: creative, transformative, restorative. This is a creative miracle.

1. Motivation, v. 2–4

2. Testing, v. 5–6

Test: “For the purpose of ascertaining his quality, or what he thinks, or how he will behave himself.”  

“And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not."  -Deuteronomy 8:2

“You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah.”  -Deuteronomy 6:16
