We continue to partner with what God is doing in this Central American country through our relationship with the Carty Family. Our church takes two trips to Costa Rica each year. In the past, our men built a school, and our next men's trip will be to build a church on the reservation. and a churchwide trip is taken during the summer months. In the spring of 2016, we added a medical missions emphasis in which we were able to see over 250 patients in 4 days. We minister to the Guaymi Indians in the mountains of Southern Costa Rica.
BART AND HEATHER CARTY
The Cartys are members of Grand Parkway and have been called to God's mission in Central America. They desire to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the Guaymi Indians in Costa Rica. Bart and Heather's vision is to reach the Guaymi by meeting simple physical needs of water, shelter, and food to help them understand that all they enjoy is from Jesus. Their long-term vision includes building a shelter for when the Guaymi come into civilized society for hospital visits or other needs. As of now, the Costa Rican population treats the Guaymi as less than human, and they are forced to stay on the streets for such visits.
Through our partnership with Red Page Ministries, we have traveled to this Eastern European nation to minister to orphans by participating in construction of the House of Joy (a local outreach center), as well as bringing the Good News of Jesus to local villages and churches. We travel to Romania each summer. This is a great opportunity to be stretched in new ways as you explore what God is doing for the people of Romania.
