Name:
Lance Williams
The best book I have read lately:
The Grace Awakening by Charles Swindoll and Ancient-Future Faith by Robert Webber
I experience Grand Parkway to be:
A people who are excited about the movement of God in their own lives, the community around them, and across the world.
I'm realizing in this season of life:
God loves His children unconditionally. I realize that is very fundamental, but the more one lives the Christian life sometimes, the further that truth can sometimes be. It has been a nice reminder in this season of our lives that the same God that scattered the stars of the sky, and knows them by name, also initiated a loving, caring, generous relationship with us. It is simple, but profound, as oftentimes our God is: we can't earn His love, and we can't lose it either. He loves us because of who He is, and there is nothing more freeing than that truth.
On my time off, chances are you will find me:
Spending time with my lovely family, Melissa and Reese. I am your typical guy - loving all sports and all things active. Friends and the community around us are always important to us as we thoroughly enjoy time with them. We love to go to good restaurants, and of the places we've lived, Houston has the best (Lupe Tortilla Anyone?)! Music is always important to me as I listen to the likes of Dave Matthews, Coldplay, David Gray, Death Cab for Cutie, Pete Yorn, and Guster; and of the Christian variety, Robbie Seay Band, David Crowder, Bebo Norman, and Jon Foreman.
What are you listening to these days?
John Mayer: Battle Studies, Pete Yorn: Back and Fourth, Mat Kearney: City of Black & White
What's captured your imagination lately?
The infinite measure by which God answers prayer. Recently, while reading the book of Daniel, I came across a passage that sent my mind whirling: "Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the same time of the evening sacrifice. He instructed me and said to me, 'Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed.'" God hears and answers prayer - a simple, yet poignant reminder that God so cares for us that He would enter into the minutia of personal, daily life in His infinite love for us. For it truly is as David says, "Who knows, the Lord may be gracious to me...?"
