Missions

Local & Global Mission Opportunities

Missions is sending out people with authority to share the amazing news of Christ. It's what we're called to do as Christians. At the end of the gospel of Matthew, Jesus commissioned His followers to go and make disciples of people in all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to follow Him. At Grand Parkway we believe that missions is not an option; it is a choice to be obedient to God's command. We also believe that God has given us gifts and talents, and He has led us to some incredible opportunities where we can use them to live out His passionate plan for our city and our world.

Local Missions

One child. One hour. Each week. That’s the simple commitment that is asked of anyone wanting to be a mentor to an at-risk elementary student at Oyster Creek  and Mission West Elementary. This gives you the opportunity to bring love and the life-changing claims of Christ into the lives of children.

The Landing is a daytime drop-in center where survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation can experience an atmosphere of acceptance and be introduced to social support. Located on a nationally known hotspot for sex trafficking and prostitution in Houston, The Landing team assists survivors by meeting basic needs and sharing resources. Our intention is to meet people where they are—wherever that may be—and support them throughout their journey.

We have partnerships with a number of our local schools: Mission West Elementary, Oyster Creek Elementary, Garcia Middle School and Austin High School. These partnerships include: mentoring students, supporting and encouraging the faculty throughout the year, and beautification projects.

We provide support for local missionaries who build relationships in the local Muslim communities. They welcome anyone who would like to be trained to work in this ministry.

Global Missions

Each summer we travel to this Eastern European nation to minister to orphans by participating in construction of the House of Joy (a local outreach center), as well as bringing the Good News of Jesus to local villages and churches. This is a great opportunity to be stretched in new ways as you explore what God is doing for the people of Romania.

Romanian natives, Ovidiu and Adina’s ministry in Romania is three-layered: Ovidiu is the pastor of Revolution Church in the city of Lugoj; Adina is a social worker who heads up the humanitarian aid portion of their ministry. Together they run the House of Joy, an outreach center for their rural area of the country.
