How Did We Get Here?
1. Not trusting God is a sin
2 Kings 20.1-19
Couple of takeaways…
You must decide if you are going to trust man (includes self) or God?
Have good boundaries, v. 13
Think beyond yourself, v. 19
2. Sin always has a consequence
“The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”
3. The consequence of sin is judgement
a) judgement teaches us who God is
b) judgement informs our behavior
c) Judgement teaches us the Gospel
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
-2 Corinthians 5.21
